By Chris Nichols
Martin D. Tunstall was presented a bronze medal by Ms. Mattie L. Woodson on May 19 for being chosen as the recipient of the ROTC Award sponsored by the Chicot Trace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Academic excellence and demonstrating qualities of dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership, and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of ROTC training were criteria used in selecting Tunstall for the award.
Lt. Col. William Ballew, head of the Sheridan ROTC program, chose Tunstall for the award.
Col. Ballew said that Tunstall was the ROTC student who best met all the D.A.R. standards for the award.
